Privacy Policy

1. Who processes your data

Centar za hebrejski jezik i književnost and its organizational unit, Institut za hebrejski jezik i književnost, process participant information for organizing and delivering the conference.

Purity d.o.o. is the seller of conference tickets and processes information required for purchases, payments, accounting, refunds and legal compliance.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on how you use the website and conference services, we may collect:

• Your name, email address, country and contact details.
• Ticket category, registration information and transaction confirmation.
• Names and email addresses of participants included in group registrations.
• Proof of student status when a student ticket is purchased.
• Questions submitted to speakers and related communication preferences.
• Messages, complaints, refund requests and other correspondence.
• Zoom participation information and technical access data.
• Website, browser, device, IP address and cookie information.
• Your voice when you ask a question during a recorded session.
• Your image if you voluntarily activate your camera during a recorded session.

Full payment-card information is processed by PayPal and is not received or stored by the Organizer.

3. Why we process information

Information is processed to:

• Process ticket purchases and payments.
• Confirm registration and provide conference access.
• Deliver live Zoom sessions and twelve-month access to recordings.
• Verify eligibility for student tickets.
• Process ticket transfers, refunds and complaints.
• Maintain conference security and prevent unauthorized access.
• Answer questions and provide participant support.
• Comply with accounting, consumer-protection and other legal obligations.
• Send essential conference communications.
• Send relevant scholarly information directly connected with the conference, including information about speakers, programme changes, abstracts, conference materials, recordings and conference publications.
• Improve the website and conference services through consent-based analytics.

Consent to receive conference-related communications does not constitute consent to unrelated advertising or unrelated newsletters. Participants may opt out of non-essential scholarly notices while continuing to receive essential messages concerning their ticket and access.

4. Payment and service providers

The conference may use the following service providers:

• B12 for website services.
• Beacons and PayPal for ticket sales and payments.
• Zoom for live conference sessions.
• Google and YouTube-integrated services for restricted recording access and subtitles.
• Google Analytics for consent-based website statistics.
• Email service providers for registration and conference communications.

These providers may process information in countries outside Serbia. Their processing is also governed by their respective privacy policies and applicable data-protection rules.

5. Cookies and analytics

Essential cookies may be used for website operation, security and requested services.

Non-essential analytics cookies, including Google Analytics cookies, should be activated only after the visitor provides consent through the cookie notice. Visitors may reject or withdraw consent for non-essential cookies.

6. Conference recordings

Live sessions are recorded.

Participants are not required to activate their cameras. A participant who activates a camera acknowledges that their image may appear in the recording.

A participant who asks a question orally expressly agrees that their voice and question will be recorded and may be heard in the recording made available to registered ticket holders for twelve months.

A participant who does not wish to have their voice recorded should not ask an oral question and may use an available written-question option instead.

Conference recordings will never be made publicly available on YouTube. They will be provided through restricted-access systems exclusively for registered participants.

7. Data retention

Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to:

• Organize and deliver the conference.
• Provide twelve-month access to recordings.
• Handle support, refunds, complaints and disputes.
• Maintain required accounting and transaction records.
• Fulfil other applicable legal obligations.

Records of submitted complaints will be retained for at least the period required by applicable Serbian law.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request:

• Access to your personal information.
• Correction of inaccurate information.
• Deletion or restriction of processing.
• Withdrawal of consent.
• Objection to certain processing.
• Data portability where applicable.

Requests should be sent to institutehebrew@gmail.com.

You may also submit a complaint to the competent data-protection authority.

9. Minors

Tickets for persons under 18 must be purchased by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or guardian is responsible for providing the minor's information and accepting these policies on the minor's behalf.

Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance

By purchasing a ticket, registering a participant or using conference access, the purchaser and participant accept these Terms and Conditions, the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy.

2. Conference format

The conference will take place live online through Zoom from 6 to 8 November 2026, according to the published programme and Serbia time.

Registered participants will receive access to conference recordings for twelve months after the recordings become available.

3. Tickets and payment

Tickets are sold by Purity d.o.o. through Beacons and PayPal on behalf of Centar za hebrejski jezik i književnost.

A ticket becomes valid after successful payment and confirmation. The purchaser is responsible for providing a correct email address and accurate registration information.

4. Personal access and ticket transfers

Conference access is personal and may not be shared with another person.

A ticket may be transferred to another participant only if a transfer request is submitted to institutehebrew@gmail.com no later than 25 October 2026.

The request must include the original purchaser's details, transaction information and the new participant's name and email address. After an approved transfer, the original participant loses the right to use the ticket.

Unauthorized resale or sharing of tickets, Zoom links, passwords or recording access is prohibited.

5. Student tickets

A participant using a student ticket must provide valid proof of current student status if requested.

If valid proof is not provided, the purchaser must pay the difference between the student price and the applicable General Admission price within the deadline specified by the Organizer. Access may be suspended until the difference is paid.

6. Technical requirements

Participants are responsible for:

• A compatible device and internet connection.
• Installing or accessing Zoom.
• Using a valid email address.
• Checking spam and promotions folders.
• Joining sessions at the correct time.
• Ensuring that their equipment, audio and software function correctly.

Failure to attend, internet problems, device problems or other technical difficulties on the participant's side do not entitle the participant to a refund. Twelve-month access to available recordings remains provided.

7. Programme and speaker changes

The Organizer may make reasonable programme adjustments.

If a speaker is unable to participate because of illness or another justified reason, the Organizer may provide a replacement speaker, substitute presentation or revised programme slot. Such a change does not constitute cancellation of the conference and is not grounds for a refund.

8. Postponement and force majeure

The conference date may be changed only because of force majeure or circumstances beyond the Organizer's reasonable control, including earthquake, flood, war, civil disturbance, governmental restrictions, major infrastructure failure or a comparable extraordinary event.

If the conference is postponed for such a reason:

• The ticket automatically remains valid for the new date.
• The participant retains access to the conference and available recordings.
• No refund is provided solely because of the postponement.

9. Conference cancellation

If the Organizer cancels the entire conference without providing a replacement date, purchasers are entitled to a full refund of the ticket amount paid.

10. Recordings, cameras and questions

Live sessions are recorded.

Camera use is optional. Participants who do not want their image recorded should keep their camera turned off.

By asking an oral question, the participant expressly agrees that their voice and question will be recorded and included in recordings accessible to registered ticket holders for twelve months.

11. Subtitles and translations

Recordings will use subtitle and translation options in all languages supported by the integrated Google and YouTube system.

The number of available languages, processing time and technical availability depend on the platform. Automatically generated subtitles and translations may contain errors, particularly in academic terminology, personal names and ancient languages.

12. Intellectual property and prohibited use

All presentations, recordings, slides and conference materials remain protected by applicable intellectual-property rights.

Tickets provide a limited, personal and non-transferable right to view the conference and recordings.

Participants may not:

• Download or copy recordings without written authorization.
• Make screen recordings or audio recordings.
• Share access credentials or private links.
• Upload, publish, broadcast, sell or redistribute recordings.
• Reproduce substantial portions of presentations or materials.
• Use conference content for commercial purposes without written permission.
• Attempt to bypass access restrictions.

Violation may result in immediate suspension of access without a refund and may lead to legal action.

13. Conference communications

By purchasing a ticket, the purchaser agrees to receive:

• Payment and registration confirmations.
• Access instructions and security notices.
• Programme and scheduling updates.
• Speaker changes and other important organizational information.
• Recording and subtitle availability notices.
• Relevant scholarly information directly connected with the conference, its speakers, materials and publications.

This consent does not include unrelated commercial advertising.

14. Academic content

Views expressed by speakers are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Purity d.o.o., Centar za hebrejski jezik i književnost, Institut za hebrejski jezik i književnost or the European Hebrew Journal.

Academic presentations are provided for educational and scholarly purposes.

15. Governing law and disputes

These policies are governed by the laws of the Republic of Serbia, without excluding any mandatory consumer rights that may apply according to the purchaser's place of residence.

The parties should first attempt to resolve any complaint by contacting institutehebrew@gmail.com.

Purity d.o.o. will participate in out-of-court consumer dispute-resolution proceedings where required by Serbian law.

Any unresolved dispute will be decided by the court competent under applicable mandatory law.

Refund Policy

1. Fourteen-day cancellation period

The Organizer voluntarily provides a full refund when:

• The refund request is sent within fourteen calendar days of the ticket purchase.
• The request is submitted before the conference begins.
• The participant has not used live conference access or recording access.

All three conditions must be satisfied.

2. How to request a refund

Refund requests must be sent to institutehebrew@gmail.com and should include:

• Purchaser's full name.
• Email address used for payment.
• PayPal transaction or order number.
• Ticket category.
• Date of purchase.

The date on which the email request is sent will be used to determine whether the request was submitted within the required period.

3. Refund processing

An approved refund will be processed without undue delay and no later than fourteen days after receipt of a valid refund request.

The refund will be made through the original payment method. The seller will refund the full ticket amount received.

Any exchange-rate differences or separate charges imposed independently by PayPal, a bank or a card issuer remain outside the Organizer's control.

4. Full conference cancellation

If the entire conference is cancelled without a replacement date, the full ticket amount paid will be refunded.

5. Circumstances in which refunds are not provided

Refunds are not provided when:

• More than fourteen calendar days have passed since purchase.
• The conference has already begun.
• Live or recorded access has already been used.
• The participant fails to attend.
• The participant experiences internet, device, Zoom, email or other personal technical problems.
• A speaker is replaced or a reasonable programme change is made.
• The conference is postponed because of force majeure and the ticket remains valid.
• The participant fails to provide valid student proof and must pay the applicable price difference.
• Access is suspended because of unauthorized sharing, recording, downloading or redistribution.
• A ticket has already been transferred to another participant.

Nothing in this Refund Policy limits mandatory rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Complaints

Complaints may be submitted to institutehebrew@gmail.com together with proof of purchase and a description of the issue.

Receipt of a complaint will be confirmed electronically without undue delay. A written response will be provided within the period required by Serbian law and, where applicable, no later than eight days after receipt.

Accepted complaints will ordinarily be resolved within fifteen days unless an extension is permitted by law and accepted by the consumer.

Changes to These Policies

These policies may be updated when required by law, platform changes or legitimate organizational needs.

Material changes affecting existing ticket holders will be communicated by email. Changes will not retroactively remove mandatory consumer rights or an already approved refund entitlement.
